Get To Know Alexis

My passion for massage therapy began after I experienced the most wonderful calming sensation after I had my very first massage treatment.  The entire experience allowed me to feel so much peace and healing that I thought, what an incredible gift it would be to offer this feeling to others.

In 2008 I pursued my massage therapy education at the Delaware Learning Institute.   Upon obtaining my license, I began working at local spas.  While I met so many wonderful people and greatly appreciated the experience, after two years I felt that I was not achieving the fulfillment I needed in my career as a massage therapist and I made the decision to put it on hold until I figured out my next step.

In 2012 I sought a different approach to health and wellness when I began taking classes in Nutrition.  However, I faced a major shift which led me to enter the Nursing program at Wor-Wic-Community College instead.  After graduating and obtaining my license as a Registered Nurse in 2017, I began my first job as an RN. Not long after I started, I began to feel a tremendous force pushing me out of the western medical environment and back into a holistic community.  If I’m being honest, the thought of getting back into massage therapy came across my mind within the first week of nursing school, and it never truly went away.

With the support of my family, in 2019 I made the decision to walk away from nursing to follow the path that the universe was guiding me toward and reinstated my massage license. I was beyond blessed that one of my dearest friends welcomed me into her wellness studio to begin my practice right away and in September 2023 I moved into my own office space inside of The Healing Arts Center.

Practicing massage makes me feel good.  When I walk into the Healing Arts Center and into my office, I feel peace.  I feel calm. I understand now that my journey led me to where I am meant to be and every twist and turn has not only shaped my career, but also who I am as a person.  Helping clients to alleviate chronic pain or ease stress and anxiety makes me feel fulfilled in ways I never thought I could feel in a “job”.

I have many educational goals as a massage therapist that I know will allow me to offer so many wonderful services to this community, but for now, as a busy mom of two, I am taking it slow and steady. I make sure to stay up to date with current modalities and safety protocols and read daily to improve my practice.  And for now, that is just enough for me. I know from experience that the universe will get me to where I need to go, when I need to get there.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me ~ Alexis
